Privacy policy

Last updated 8 July 2026

This site is operated by Dr HB Lo (Fun Doctors Pty Ltd, ABN 83 404 436 330). This policy explains what information the site collects and how it is handled. It is written to be read, not to bury you — if anything is unclear, get in touch.

The patient tools

The interactive tools on this site (for example the Health Risk Checker and Medical Words Explained) run entirely in your browser. Anything you type or paste — symptoms, results, pathology text, the numbers you enter — is processed on your own device and is not sent to us or to any server. Closing or refreshing the page clears it. We never store your health information.

A few tools — such as the Fact Checker's claim log — can save your entries in your browser's local storage so they are still there when you come back. That data stays on your device, is not sent to us, and you can clear it from within the tool or by clearing your browser's site data.

Email sign-ups

If you choose to email yourself a tool's printable summary or sign up for updates, you give us your first name and email address. These are sent to our email provider, Kit (ConvertKit), which stores them on our behalf so we can send you the summary and occasional updates. We do not send your tool results with that sign-up — only your name, email, and which tool you used. The one exception is text you deliberately write to us (a Fact Checker request, or a question on the ask page — see below). You can unsubscribe from any email, and you can ask us to delete your details at any time by emailing privacy@drhblo.com.

Ask me a question

If you send a question through the ask page, the question text, your email address, and your first name (if you give it) are stored with our email provider, Kit (ConvertKit), so the question can be read, researched, and answered — and so we can send you one email when the answer is published. Please don't include identifying details in a question (full name, date of birth, Medicare number, address). Questions are never published as you wrote them: any public answer is a rewritten, generalised version with personal context removed. To have a question you've sent deleted, email privacy@drhblo.com.

Analytics

We use Plausible, a privacy-first analytics tool, to understand which pages are useful. It does not use cookies and does not collect personal or identifying information. It cannot see what you enter into the tools.

What we don't do

YouTube API Services

We publish our own educational videos to our own YouTube channel using an internal, automated tool that relies on YouTube API Services. By using that tool we agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and its use of information from Google is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

This tool authorises only against our own Google account and acts only on our own YouTube channel — it uploads our videos and sets their titles and descriptions. It does not access, collect, or store any information about you, our viewers, or any other person's Google or YouTube account, and it is not available for anyone else to sign in to or use. We store no Google user data other than the authorisation token for our own account, held securely and used solely to publish our own content.

You can review or revoke this tool's access to our Google account at any time via the Google security settings page. Any stored authorisation token can be deleted on request — email privacy@drhblo.com.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it. Email privacy@drhblo.com and we'll action it. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled a privacy matter, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Not a substitute for medical care

The tools and content on this site are educational. They do not diagnose, prescribe, or replace advice from your own doctor. If something is urgent, call 000.
