High PSA — should I have a biopsy?

Been told your PSA is high or elevated, and a biopsy’s been mentioned? In Australia, an elevated PSA usually isn’t a straight line to a biopsy. This won’t tell you whether to have one — it hands you the usual staged pathway and the questions that let you and your doctor decide together.

This is for men and people with a prostate. Doing the homework for someone else — a partner or relative whose PSA came back high? You’re in the right place; “you” just means the person facing the decision, and you can bring these questions to the appointment together.
