Baby fever: when to worry

Tell me your baby’s age and temperature, and I’ll show you — in one line you can’t misread — whether this is an emergency, a see-a-doctor-today, or a watch-closely-at-home. This helps you decide what to do. It can’t examine your baby.

This is the most important thing here. Pick days, weeks, or months.
Even a rough number helps — or just tell me they feel hot.

What this means

Where this sits

How urgent is this
EMERGENCY — 000 / ED now
Go straight to emergency, or call 000.
SEE A DOCTOR TODAY
Your GP today, or after-hours / Nurse-on-Call if your GP is closed.
WATCH CLOSELY AT HOME
Keep a close eye — and see a doctor today if anything changes.

Call 000 now — whatever the age

These signs mean call 000 straight away, at any age:

Hard to wake, drowsy or floppy
Trouble breathing, breathing fast, or grunting
A rash that doesn’t fade when you press a glass on it
A fit or seizure
Stiff neck, or bothered by light
A bulging soft spot on the head
Not feeding, no wet nappy, or no tears

Any one of these → call 000. (HealthDirect)

The honest part

Email yourself the one-pager

Your baby’s age, the fever, and the signs to watch — on one page to show at the emergency department or send to whoever’s with you.

That doesn’t look like an email — mind checking?

Sent — check your inbox. Here’s your card again so you can screenshot it now.

Once things have settled: the Post-Consult Debrief turns what the ED or your GP told you into a plan you’ll still have next week — and the Baby & toddler illness questions kit walks you through fever, rashes, and breathing worries by age.
